From 28 October to 7 November 2026, the EUNIC Algeria Cluster is taking part in the Algiers International Book Fair (SILA), with a programme of events hosted at the European Union Delegation's stand.

This participation reflects a commitment to strengthening cultural cooperation between Europe and Algeria through a programme of meetings and exchanges focusing on intercultural dialogue, children's literature, opportunities for collaboration in the publishing sector, and the promotion of storytelling traditions.

Three events are open to the public as part of SILA 2026: Thursday 29 October, 2.00–3.00 pm – “What is EUNIC?” An opportunity to meet representatives of European cultural institutes and discover the EUNIC network, its mission and the cultural cooperation initiatives it develops in Algeria. Saturday 7 November, 11.00 am–1.00 pm – “When Books Come to Life: The Story of Dj’ha” An engaging activity for young audiences, introducing them to the tales of Dj’ha. Through lively readings and theatrical performances, children will be invited to explore the world of this iconic character and discover the joy of storytelling. Saturday 7 November, 4.00–6.00 pm – “Children’s Publishing: Challenges and Opportunities for Cooperation between Europe and Algeria” A round-table discussion bringing together professionals from the book and publishing sectors to explore opportunities for collaboration across the Mediterranean, particularly in co-publishing, translation and the international circulation of children's literature.

Through this programme, EUNIC Algeria aims to strengthen dialogue and exchanges between publishing professionals and cultural stakeholders from Europe and Algeria, while opening up new opportunities for cooperation in literature, publishing, and the sharing of knowledge, stories, and creative traditions.
