Culture as a space for dialogue

EUNIC around the world

Our global vision

EUNIC (opens in a new tab)(European Union National Institutes for Culture) is the European network of national institutes for culture and public bodies engaged in international cultural relations.

Present in many countries around the world, it fosters cooperation, co-creation and mutual learning between cultural partners. Through this dynamic, EUNIC affirms a vision of culture as a space for encounter, openness and mutual understanding, capable of weaving lasting ties between societies.

How we work

Dialogue, reciprocity and co-creation

EUNIC’s approach is based on a conviction: cultural relations are built with local partners, through listening, mutual respect, reciprocity and shared learning. EUNIC therefore encourages encounters, co-creation, the movement of artists, ideas and practices, professional exchanges and networking.

Beyond presenting European cultures, the aim is to create spaces where people from different countries can meet, exchange and build things together.

Diversity at the heart of the network

Cultural and linguistic diversity is one of EUNIC’s greatest strengths. Its members represent many languages, traditions, experiences and cultural models.

This plurality informs a European approach based on dialogue between cultures and spans many fields: cinema, literature, visual arts, music, heritage, performing arts, design, architecture, cultural and creative industries, digital practices, languages and multilingualism, mobility and professional training.

Partnerships rooted in local contexts

In different countries, EUNIC clusters bring together network members who want to develop shared priorities and projects.

Their work responds to local realities and needs, in dialogue with institutions, artists, cultural professionals and civil society organisations. This makes it possible to combine a shared European vision with an approach attentive to each context.

EUNIC and the European Union

EUNIC is a strategic partner of the European Union in international cultural relations and works, in particular, with EU Delegations in many countries.

This cooperation helps strengthen the place of culture in the European Union’s international relations and develop joint initiatives with local partners. It is grounded in the conviction that culture offers a privileged space for encounters, dialogue and cooperation between societies.

A network rooted locally

EUNIC Algeria: the EUNIC cluster in Algeria

EUNIC Algeria brings together national cultural institutes and the diplomatic representations of EU Member States in Algeria that wish to develop lasting cultural relations between Algeria and the European Union.

The cluster provides a space for consultation, cooperation and dialogue between its members, the Delegation of the European Union in Algeria and those active in Algeria’s cultural scene.

It encourages members to pool their experience, networks and resources in order to develop collective European cultural initiatives that complement the individual activities of Member States and their cultural institutes.

Its activities are developed in dialogue with institutions, artists, cultural professionals, associations, festivals, universities and other civil society stakeholders in Algeria.

Through projects in cinema, literature and comics, languages, the arts, heritage, contemporary creation and professional development, EUNIC Algeria aims to encourage encounters and exchanges and build lasting collaborations between Algerian cultural stakeholders and those from EU Member States.

A cultural cooperation programme

Focus on EUNIC in Algeria

“Focus on EUNIC in Algeria” is a project supported by the Delegation of the European Union in Algeria to help develop EUNIC Algeria’s joint activities and strengthen cultural cooperation between Algeria and Europe.

The project aims to strengthen the cluster’s ability to design and deliver a joint programme, increase its visibility and develop its communications tools, while encouraging new collaborations with Algerian cultural stakeholders.

Through cultural events, professional meetings, training and networking, as well as initiatives that promote exchange and mobility, Focus on EUNIC in Algeria helps build connections between European and Algerian artists, professionals, institutions and audiences.

The project places particular importance on co-creation with local partners, sharing experience and developing initiatives suited to the realities of Algeria’s cultural and creative sector.

Its activities cover a range of fields, including cinema, literature and comics, languages, visual arts, heritage, contemporary creation and the professional development of cultural and creative practitioners.

Through this initiative, the European Union helps strengthen EUNIC Algeria as a platform for dialogue, cooperation and cultural relations between Algeria and Europe.
