Le Chant du Fragile
An immersive journey through fifteen poems voiced by artists from thirteen countries.
EUNIC Algeria presented “Le Chant du Fragile” on Saturday, 18 April 2026, from 6:30 pm at the Instituto Cervantes in Algiers. Part of “Focus on EUNIC in Algeria” and the celebration of World Poetry Day, the event brought together the Instituto Cervantes in Algiers, the Italian Cultural Institute of Algiers, the French Institute of Algiers, the Goethe-Institut, the British Council, and the embassies of Austria, Bulgaria, Hungary, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania and Slovenia.
At the heart of the event, “Césure” is a scenography by Mehdi Hachid, directed by the artist and produced by EUNIC le DOJO in partnership with AVEE. Fifteen poems, thirteen countries, one room: for more than thirty-five minutes, the audience is free to move through a transformed space. Voices emerge, overlap and fade, accompanied by an audiovisual installation designed for the venue. Here, visitors are not spectators but passers-by; it is in this passage that poetry takes shape.
Artist and artistic director based in Algiers, Mehdi Hachid creates installations, sculptures and audiovisual projects exploring what the eye perceives before the mind can name it. Recent projects include “Nexus”, an immersive installation presented at the French Institutes in Constantine and Algiers (2023–2024); “Waiting for Noah”, a monumental sculpture commissioned for the Izmir International Design Biennial (2024); and “Corps Territoire”, a research project on memory presented at the Algiers International Contemporary Art Fair.
Hachid directs DOJO, an Algiers-based creative direction and cultural project management agency that supports artists and institutions through production, artistic consultancy and a programme for developing new work. DOJO’s partner AVEE is a creative studio specialising in immersive technologies and visual effects; it created the video mapping and provided technical support for “Césure”.
