EUNIC Short Film Days
Three evenings of European and Algerian short films in Oran and Algiers, alongside a professional day dedicated to the audiovisual sector.
EUNIC Short Film Days are part of the project “Focus on EUNIC in Algeria”, led by the EUNIC Algeria cluster with the support of the Delegation of the European Union to Algeria.
Held from 9 to 11 July 2026, this first edition brought together 14 EUNIC cluster member states and an Algerian short film for three evenings dedicated to European and Algerian cinema. The event took place in Oran and Algiers and included a professional day for audiovisual-sector exchanges.
Thursday 9 July – French Institute of Oran: the evening featured four short films: Une Orange de Jaffa (France), Chocolat (Bulgaria), Vista Mare (Italy) and Elysian Fields (Germany). The screenings were followed by a live recording of the French Institute of Algeria's FRACTURE(S) podcast, hosted by Samir Ardjoum and his team, with a discussion on cinema and audiovisual creation. The podcast will have a special FRACTURE(S) × EUNIC edition.
That same evening, the opening ceremony at the French Institute of Algeria in Algiers presented eight short films representing seven European countries: Une Orange de Jaffa (France), Chocolat (Bulgaria), Bahamas (Belgium), Stuck Together (Czechia), Cafuné (Spain), Tempi Supplementari and Vista Mare (Italy), and Vanus Labor (Sweden).
Friday 10 July – French Institute of Algeria in Algiers: the second evening featured Elysian Fields (Germany), Bejn is-Sema u l-Art (Malta), London Arabia (United Kingdom) and Khamsinette (Algeria), highlighting the diversity of European perspectives and Algerian filmmaking.
Saturday 11 July – Residence of the Delegation of the European Union to Algeria: the closing evening featured an open-air programme with The Dress (Poland), From Play to Play (Czechia), Ma classe au Groenland (Denmark), Céntrico (Spain), Sylwan (Sweden) and 237 Years (Romania).
